Working Together for Justice and Mercy
Carson is a shining example of being involved not just by showing up, but lending her voice when she sees an injustice. As part of the Nominating Team for future leadership at First Church she patiently waited her turn to speak, and then was confident, yet gentle, when asking the team to not make decisions for potential future leaders, but rather allow them to choose if they were too busy, or able to serve. So often as a society those in power will make decisions for those without a voice, not asking or taking into consideration what THEY want. By speaking up, calling out, and shining a light on this perspective, it created a new paradigm from which the team could work. It was bold of her to stand up in this one instance, and is an example of the work she has done at First Church.
